Pictures in "Pigyard Spring Show 2014"
7 Feb 2014 - 3 May 2014
Pigyard Gallery Spring shows features 7 exciting gallery artists in the newly refurbished gallery display with new artists to follow in the coming weeks.
The artists include Tom King, Bob Lynn, Anne McLeod, Rene Mellenberg, Mick Mulcahy, Sarah Rogers and Marja van Kampen.
The new display allows unframed work to be displayed alongside framed pieces. This aims to make art more collectible and affordable. The unframed pieces are ideal as important gifts and flexible for framing to suit the recipient's decor or for posting overseas.
Marja van Kampen has recently relocated to Wexford from Galway where she has been a leading painter and printmaker since the 1980s. Her striking, exotic and colourful works are very well known and held in many public and private collections here and abroad. Marja has represented Ireland overseas, such is the respect in which the Dutch artist's work is held. To celebrate her arrival in Wexford her work is highlighted this month.
Another Dutch artist is Rene Mellenberg, synonymous with plein air painting and his carefully observed, subtle tonal studies in oil have twice won awards at Wexford's plein air event, Art in the Open.
Printmakers are represented by Scottish artist Bob Lynn and English artist, Sarah Rogers, two members of the Graphic Studio, Dublin.
Stunning watercolours are presented by both Tom King and Anne McLeod showing what can be achieved with this most elusive medium while a series of brilliant paintings on paper based on the iconic Skelligs are presented by Aosdana artist, Mick Mulcahy.
